This past weekend we decided to enjoy a quick getaway sans kids. We generally like staying at The Breakers but it was completely sold out due to a large event, we think it was a wedding given the black tie guests walking around the venue. Instead, we decided to try a new hotel and stayed at The Ben, Autograph Collection in West Palm Beach.
The experience at The Ben was not the greatest only because we had loud neighbors and I had to call the front desk at 1:45AM and then again at 2:30AM. By 4AM the security guys came back and we heard the guests slamming the door. The hotel itself was beautiful and the customer service was impeccable.
I would recommend The Ben during the week as on the weekends it attracts a less than mature crowd. We are getting old, so loud partying is not for us 😉

We headed over to The Breakers for dinner but I completely forgot to take pictures of their amazing Duck Bao Buns. We had so many appetizers as dinner. That’s our favorite kind. We order 6-7 appetizers and call it Tapas. We always finish it off with a heavy dessert and compliment it with a drink, or two. We had dinner and drinks at the HMF.

Here’s a funny story about The Enchanted drink. We were not aware it came with a “surprise”, so David was convinced a cockroach had fallen into the ice cube and froze. We asked the waitress what that was and she said it was a rose. In our defense, it was pretty dark and the petals looked like wings and feet so we watched it closely until it melted.

One of the items on the menu was Cuban Cigars. Hey, we don’t have to drive home, the kids are at the grandparents and we haven’t smoked a cigar since we last visited Cuba, so might as well order some. We bought Montecristos and headed to the sea wall.

After 4 or 6 drinks, we called an Uber and headed to The Ben. We went upstairs to the rooftop bar but it really wasn’t our scene so we headed to bed.

We finished our staycation by enjoying a courtyard breakfast at the Cafe Boulud. We have been there for a dinner and brunch but it was our first time enjoying A La Carte Breakfast, which didn’t disappoint.
After breakfast we came home to be greeted by two little brats and a very spoiled dog, which completed our perfect weekend 🙂
