This past year the kids have been doing British accents for some reason, we have no idea why, so we decided to take them to London. The tradition is to announce on Christmas Day we are heading somewhere and this year we told them it would be Portugal. The surprise was to shock them with the London news mid flight 🙂
This was a last minute purchase since we weren’t sure when we were closing on our flip. We closed on the house on December 30 and headed to London on December 31. We celebrated New Year’s Eve with the Lufthansa crew, which was pretty special.
The plan was to fly out on Dec 31 and come back on the 4th to start the remodel, so we flew Business Class to avoid as much jetlag as possible. The kids were thrilled to say the least.
Although our trip was short (and sweet), we covered all the basics: rode the classic English cab, went on the London Eye, had tea time at the County Library, shopped and ate at Harrods, visited the Elizabeth Tower (aka Big Ben), the Parliament, the Tower of London, the Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, had hot cocoa and mulled wine at the Christmas Markets at Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square, rode on the big red bus, visited Soho, Chinatown, Piccadilly Circus, you name it. We rushed the kids to see every landmark possible within our time frame. They even had fish & chips and the infamous English Breakfast (we skipped those lol).
For those asking on my stories, we stayed at the London Marriott County Hall and absolutely recommend!! You can walk to the Big Ben, London Eye, etc. Amazing location!
Overall we had a great time and started 2023 on a high note.

Until next time, London!
