Summer may have just arrived for many of you, but for us, it’s year-round. Living in South Florida has been one of the best choices I have ever made. In 2007 I moved down here from New York, and because I didn’t have any kids at the time, I did not get to fully enjoy it as I do now. Life is about living it to its fullest, and living by the beach where you can jump into the water on Christmas Eve with your little ones, about sums it up.
I was born and raised in Portugal so I think I appreciate this weather more than most natives. The fact I don’t have to empty out my closet every four to six months, bag up all of the thick sweaters and replace it with spring and summer outfits, is a blessing. Gosh, I remember those days. Replenishing your closet for every season, was not fun. I do not miss having my arms stuffed down the winter jackets to look like sausages. Thanks, mom! Ha.
When you live in a beach town, you get used to wearing flip flops all year-round, white [jeans] is acceptable after Labor Day (thank goodness), and you live for those vibrant colors, open toe sandals and off the shoulder tops. Having breakfast, lunch, and dinner by the water is one of the life’s best treats. Of course, having Disney World nearby doesn’t hurt us either 😉
I would never trade this lifestyle for anything. I love dressing up my darling daughter in summer dresses, my son in cool tees and “surfer’s hair”, and watch my husband stroll down the neighborhood, or downtown Disney, in his shorts and flips flops. I guess life is better when you live by the beach.
Thank you, Marks & Spencer, for partnering up on this post.
