Valentine’s Day is upon us and I want to write about diamonds. They are gorgeous, they make a woman’s hand sparkle and they can be a girl’s best friend. But they can also be a big mistake when it comes to cost. Here’s how I look at diamonds: they don’t reflect how much one is loved, they don’t reflect one’s finances and they certainly don’t symbolize a couple’s relationship.
Anniversary bands are beautiful, engagement rings are eye candy and wedding bands can compliment an engagement ring, but today’s society focus a tad too much on how much we spend on a ring. A ring. A piece of jewelry that is supposed to symbolize eternal love, commitment, faith and trust, but somehow became a vanity piece to show how much a woman/man is loved.
Many women have a minimum carat requirement, they need to be colorless and have a specific carat, but what if you told your partner that you still want all of that, but without spending thousands and thousands of dollars? Now he is listening!
Wanting to have the ring of your dreams is absolutely fine, but if spending thousands of dollars is not in your budget, I will be sharing some alternatives.
These days they make beautiful man-made diamonds that clone the characteristics of a real diamond, without the cost and without the guilt of wondering if they are blood diamonds or not. If man-made diamonds [CZ] are not for you, how about white sapphires or Moissanite (naturally occurring silicon carbide; rare mineral, discovered by the French chemist Henri Moissan in 1893)?
Below are some beautiful rings that don’t have to cost a house down-payment and will have your friends gush over your new hand candy.
Share this with your partner, and let them know that if they plan on proposing, that it doesn’t need to be with a real diamond. These are just as stunning and you can always upgrade it at a later time, or better yet, keep it forever and save the money for your honeymoon.
