This August I am turning 40 and I am not going to pretend that I am excited about it, because I am not. At all. I have heard many people claiming that 40s were their best years but I am dreading the day that happens. I am all about youth, feeling energetic, looking young and living eternally.
I want to feel and look young, inside and out. I have done Botox twice on my forehead, which is great, but it’s a temporary fix and that sucks! My hair is getting thinner every day, my curls have become loose nests, my skin is welcoming new freckles every week and my back hurts if I bend over. Aging sucks.
Yes, I am wiser and have grown into a blessed woman with a wonderful family and two healthy kids, but turning 40 is still bothering me. I don’t want to see wrinkles when I am applying makeup; I don’t want to complain about my knees when I have to race my kids down on the beach, and I certainly don’t want to think about how old I will be when they graduate college. That thought alone puts me in tears, and not happy tears!
My kids are active, young, and they are the reason why I refuse to age. I won’t be wearing pigtails with cinderella slippers to feel young again, but I won’t be welcoming new wrinkles with open arms either.
So here’s what I have been doing to help me look young and stay active: yoga, the Amazing Abs app, the Butt app, a healthy carb-free diet (before and after pictures coming soon), a 50 SPF sunscreen, and wrinkle warrior by Kate Somerville (use coupon code FFMARTA25 for 25% OFF). Everything else is out of my control, so I will have to stubbornly accept it. Until then, let me enjoy my last few days of being 39 and tell everyone that I am 30’ish.
Please let me know if you use any good products that help you stay young as I will be all over it 😉
